Adventure
Looking for a bit of adventure? Try the French Go Ape in Rieumes, some rock n roll rafting on the Ariege, or more locally in Sabaillan. Horses? Gallop away in Saint Gaudens stables, ideal for all ages. Fancy being the next Charles LeClerc? Karting in Muret. In winter we are only an hour from skiing in the family resort of Peyragudes.
Local Markets
Visit one of the local markets that offer everything from cheese to live chickens! There are markets in L'Isle en Dodon, Boulogne sur Gess and the nearby picturesque Aurignac. Click here for those markets or slightly further afield at Samatan
Great Cities
Obviously Toulouse. It is a beautiful city center home to the space museum, historic walks and shopping! Further afield is Pau (our favourite) with views of the Pyrenees' wide boulevards and a great restaurant quarter. Foix famous for its jazz and medieval Auch offers culture and history. Of course, the Pyrenees offers walking cycling with the beautiful 1920s inspired Luchon.
Restaurants
The most local is in St Andre a newly opened boutique venue. Next up is Olivers-great food better view! Heading into L'isle en Dodon you will find Le Bon Vivre serving both local gourmet or just an old-fashioned pizza! In the town centre you will find Le Toscan who get rave reviews for typical French food. For a steak why not try Le Toscan (but watch out for those speed cameras on the straight 10 mile road!) In Boulogne Sur Gesse in the market place try Au Comptoir des Halles-Jerome is both funny and friendly along with great food and atmosphere.
Sport
Southwest France is dominated by rugby. Take in a game at the mighty Top 14 team Stade Toulousain or the rough tough L'Isle en Dodon USL for a more local affair. The nearest golf is a nine-hole course set in Barbet or the more challenging Toulouse course south of the city. You can enjoy free tennis on our village hardcourt (racquets and balls freely available). We don't do football - apart from the goal on the meadow -so can't help you there!
Walks and Cycling
The Rando walking and cycling site gives detailed maps and itineraries of trails, all a stone's throw away from Gite31. Whether a leisurely walk, road bike marathon, or an off-road experience all trails are marked and freely downloadable in an app for daily adventures. Gite 31 has 2 hybrids and 2 mountain bikes complimentary for your use. Alternatively, drink chilled Rose by the pool listening to our Bluetooth speaker!
Outside the Gates!
Step outside the gates straight into the Fabas forest. Filled with an abundance of wildlife, marked paths that lead down to a lake where you can fish or eat a picnic under the shady pine trees. No swimming unfortunately but the lake in Boulogne can help you there.
